Pros of Traditional Recruitment

The service quality is the greatest draw card, allowing you engage closely with an expert who will assist you with a tailored placement. This is where the traditional recruiter is the best!

Cons of Traditional Recruitment

The drawback of using a traditional recruiter is that your overall job radius is considerably lower than if you use a digital recruiter. This means that you may be missing out on jobs that you could apply for, and in many cases could mean being unemployed for longer. More and more digital recruiting sites are becoming more reliable despite becoming more automated.

Pros of Digital Recruitment

The first “pro” of using a digital recruiter is that your CV is pushed to a large number of sources, increasing your job potential with prospective employers. Statistically, greater exposure means that your chances increase to find work. These online platforms also allow you to customize your search to a specific job and location that suits you.

Cons of Digital Recruitment

The problem with this mass exposure means that you don’t have that attention to detail you would get from a traditional recruiter. You are also exposed to plenty of duplicate jobs and jobs that are not relevant to what you are looking for. This means that it may take up more time sifting through the jobs that you are not interested in. Many a time the job may seem perfect, but then at the bottom of the description there will be a requirement of, for example, at least 2 years’ experience. This is highly frustrating and time wasting, which is the last thing you want during your job search.

What to Do

Try to consider your own unique situation, and tailor a solution that fits your needs. For example, if your field is specific, you may feel like you need a more personalised experience. However, for someone who isn’t so fussed about the field they end up in, a more digital solution might be for them.
